My first encounter with the CANEX was as an Officer Cadet, maddly dashing around to pick up items that I had not brought as part of my initial kit list. Like most of the other members of my Platoon, I had brought 2 picture frames already but I had not brought any pictures of family members or friends to put in these frames. Our Directing Staff (DS) stressed upon us all the need to have a picture frame with a picture in it by our bedsides for the next morning's inspection. There were numerous frames for sale at the CANEX, but only one style had a picture in it already that did not have any writing on the picture. It was a picture of a nice looking young lady that I, and most of my Platoon mates, bought. The next morning during morning inspection, our DS made many comments and exclaimations about this one young lady who's picture was on almost everybody's desk, and how she certainly got around. It made it hard to keep a straight face for the rest of the inspection.

I showed up on basic training in CFB Borden without a clue! First off, I had no civilian clothing with me at all. I thought my life was a write off for the next few months, so why bother with normal clothing right? I was so impressed with the trendy clothes they had there, I ended up spending a fortune. It was great! Thanks CANEX!

I just recently purchased a Samsung washer and dryer at the CANEX in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. I checked the pricing at several other stores and was able to save about $800 on the purchase. I was able to put the purchase on the CANEX’s 36 month no interest credit plan. This was my first time using this plan and within minutes the friendly staff had my approval and sale completed. Awesome Deal.

My first experience with CANEX was in Valcartier. I came from a military family and CANEX has always been a part of our life. Thank you for doing what you do best; customer service has always been your strength. BRAVO!

On April 23 of 1989 I was a young military spouse living in Greenwood and expecting my first child anyday, if fact I was a week overdue! We got up on Saturday morning and decided to head to CANEX, which had a grocery store at that time, to choose something for lunch and to rent a video. We made our purchases at the grocery store and debated which movie to choose. The clerk at the video counter was surprised to see me still kicking around and since I was quite huge by this time asked when I was due. I replied that I was week over due and could have that day and would be nothing but thrilled. He wished us luck and said in the direction of my belly "Come on you in there time to come out". We had a good chuckle rented our video and I waddled to the exit. On the way out the door I felt a weird sensation across my back and abdomen. Well I never did get to eat that lunch we had purchased or see the movie we rented. Turns out that weird sensation was my first contraction. I went into full labour shortly thereafter and my son Brent was born at 0220 hours 24 April 1989!

As a military member, being posted from one province to another, one city to another, the one constant that I have found I could rely on has been the CANEX experience. I say experience because no matter where you are you can always count on the friendly faces and welcoming smiles of CANEX employees. They understand the demands of military life and help make every new posting home.

I bought my first snow blower from CANEX, and found the service and delivery to be excellent.

Back in 1985, I was a newly trained recruit and posted to Borden for my QL3 training. I had to walk everywhere I went after work, as I didn't have a driver's license. One evening while I was at the canex I spotted an awesome, grey, ten-speed bicycle. It was listed at around $89.00 and I thought to myself, "Now that's what I need to get around." I purchased it on the spot and the staff helped me put it together. I had to walk it to the nearest garage to get air in the tires as the canex didn't have an air compressor. Man did that bike go. I felt like a million bucks with it. I kept that bike for about 20 years, and finally upgraded to an 18 speed mountain bike so I could go biking with my son. I will never forget my first large purchase from the canex. It saved me many hours of walking and it was my pride and joy for quite a few years until I got a driver's license. Thank you CANEX for making my life a little bit easier.

While in the service I worked at several canex (Holberg-Chilliwack-Kingston-Bermuda-Golan Heights) I always shopped at CANEX for my Major appliances. Now that I am retired I continue to make my Major purchases at CANEX using the Credit plan. I have purchased my engagement ring at a gold sale in Chilliwack. I hope that CANEX is around for the next 40 years.

It was the late 1960's when we were posted to Trenton from St. Jean with the Buffalo Sqn, and the first time that we lived in PMQ's. The CANEX stores at that time were huge and also had the grocery store separate. The year that I was 10, there was a promotion at the CANEX outlet, with prizes to be won. I entered a ballot and to my everlasting surprise, won a radio. I had that radio for years, it was the first item I had ever won! To a 10 year old girl, the CANEX was a wonderous place to be.
