Benefits
Benefits apply to full time employees. Details of Non Public Funds (NPF) Benefits can be found in the Benefits Booklet and the Benefits Premiums.
Basic Life
The amount of Life coverage is 2.5 times the employee's annual salary. This coverage is fully funded by NPF.
Optional Life
In addition to Basic Life coverage, an employee may elect Optional Life coverage for themselves and/or their spouse (with smoker/non-smoker rates), up to an individual maximum of $300,000.
Long Term Disability
The Long-Term Disability Benefit offers income security should an employee become totally disabled and remain so for more than 17 weeks. In order to receive this benefit an employee must satisfy the definition of "totally disabled" and remain under the continuing care of a physician. This benefit is insured by Great West Life and all decisions regarding a claim are made by Great West Life.
Health and Dental Plans
Employees are eligible to join the Health and Dental Plans after three months of continuous service. Family benefits are available. A drug card is issued in order to facilitate the claim process, and dental claims can be submitted electronically at the dentist office, provided they are set-up with this facility. Please refer to the Coordination of Benefits insert for more information about coordinating coverage when enrolled in more than one benefits plans.
