Canadian talent visits HMCS Iroquois

NR 08.01.003

July 10, 2008

Ottawa (ON) – Deployed Canadian Forces members on HMCS Iroquois will get a welcome summer morale boost - a visit from the CF Show Tour. A diverse cast of Canadian performers will entertain the troops in a mid-July gala performance.

Once again the Personnel Support Programs Division of the Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services will be sending an outstanding show tour to entertain deployed CF members and “in this case the lucky audience will be the crew of HMCS Iroquois deployed to South-West Asia,” states Manager Deployment Policies and Resources Mark Larose. “As always this tour will do wonders to boost the morale of the crew and I am sure they will have a blast watching the excellent artists that will be performing for them.”

The show produced by Destination Funny Entertainment Inc. features a line-up of comedy, pop, country and rock music. Comedian Pete Zedlacher who has performed for the troops in Afghanistan, Canadian Forces Base Goose Bay and Canadian Forces Station Alert will play the role of host throughout the performance. The show will include pop artists and sisters Carmen and Camille, country singer Patricia Conroy and rock artist David Gogo. Singers Taylor James and Marc Lafrance will also entertain the crowd with some well-known French tracks. All of the musicians will be supported by the Show Tour Band that consists of Ian Cameron, Mick Della-Vee, Brent Howard and musical director John Dymond.

The Show Tour program is organized by the Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS), the morale and welfare arm of the Canadian Forces (CF). CFPFSS provides Show Tours to CF members serving overseas, aboard ships and in isolated locations. Over the course of any six-month major mission, a CF Show Tour is usually held at the mid-point to provide a taste of Canadian culture and entertainment to deployed members.
